Darby, selling Christmas cards for 5th grade class, told he could earn money. He wanted to send Dad's present to Vietnam.
When his mother called him into the dining room, sat him at the table, and told him to stop! Other parents called, complained about his story, to earn money. They felt guilt tripped, but hated war.
He had sold five packages of cards, and at 5 cents each for him, when they got paid later, seemed like an enormous treasure.
