This is a story of a house built for a dream that never was lived in by the beautiful lady patron to my House Art and indeed, she painted all the fixtures, decorated as you see, but never lived a single day within this house to be the dream she thought would come from our creativity. Beautiful house, great journey, sad ending… as life sometimes goes. The story of the Monty Grand Victorian is precisely one of those.
Labor was half what it is now, but I would never hire employees of today's mentality nor suffer the taxes and burden of the Federal government to run a business with 19 employees or more again. That is the definition of insanity in today's world. NO one would loan on these houses nor support them once they learned the big box stores and global manufacturers could not make millions from this path to sustainable import and toxin-free living.
Alas, mothballed, the time for such a Renaissance was in the future. Soon that time will unfold, and necessity will force people to rethink building houses in America, energy costs, imports, healthy living, and raising the few kids that can be born in a world that is losing its fertility fast. Thus do wii watch and wonder why more have not created houses such as these once it was proven it could be done with 95% Pure Salvage wood, hardware, glass, and nearly all you need to create energy efficiency that no one else can match, because you do not cut trees, make hardware, or glass. Carbon saved as a contrast to new homes makes them 1,000 % more efficient, long-lasting, and healthy... but not entirely free. Human energy and imagination are required. Hard to find that part it seems.
