Why think Salvage Built houses are trashy? Tiny Texas Houses proved 95% Salvage Built is beautiful too!
What about you? Think only slums are created from the refuse of others, the trash that some would burn or throw away, now required to by insurance after disasters. Wasted to big-box store benefits!
It is not necessarily just that you could build a set of Tiny Texas Houses style houses, but you could make a great living doing it for there are many people who say they want houses created out of salvaged parts. Why didn't that aspect of building Tiny Texas Houses get copied? Quality built, import free, all wood, sustainably built to last a lifetime. Seems like an All American Way to do it from when I was a kid does not apply today. After they stopped creating the examples to prove it could be done, cause no one else seemed to want to build that way instead of crap on wheels instead, I stopped building them for the public 6 years ago.
Now it is time to let others know to get the wood and to build them so the many who want them now will have builders locally. The biggest issues with my style were lack of financing and transport for set up. So you'll have to build closer to home and get local lenders and investors to help salvage and rebuild your areas after storms, or to take down the old and use it to build the new instead of sending money to China through big box stores.
Faster, Cheaper, Buyer Beware cause the seller doesn't care and has it built to break so you will come back there and buy more. Gee, the modern way seems crappy to mii.
Or, build local, with kids who grow up knowing they will take care of the houses and buyers for life. Help them move their houses, sell them, or repair them over the years of life they share in small communities and towns. Growing older with the houses and people of a community is what unity and heritage, and community pride is supposed to be all about. That is the reason it takes a village to raise a healthy child.
No trees cut, no glass created with heat from sand, or iron mined for cast iron sink, nor Porcelain applied at 2,400 degrees F, nor hardware like door hinges mines, smelted, then melted and formed before electricity existed. More energy is saved than the house will consume in a lifetime of use… before being occupied, already saved. NO transport from on side of the world to the other. NO chemical outgassing for 3-5 years like plastics, vinyl, plywood, and even newer woods as formaldehyde is all around in new glues and other products that are not regulated in the RV industry.
